Abstract: The growth of video based mobile applications are increasing day by day in many fold alongwith the use of mobile (smart) phones, but mobility acts as a major challenge for newlinethese applications during handover. The existing handover protocol, Fast MIPv6 is an improved version of the base Mobile IPv6 handover protocol. The handover latency introduced in these protocols is unacceptable for real-time application during handover. newlineLarge handover latency and signaling delay are the major causes to degrade the Quality of Service of network and Quality of Experience of end-user. Alongwith that, the packet losses occurs in the current buffer management at various stages causes the video discontinuity newlineand video stalls. This thesis addresses Quality of Service and Quality of Experience issues caused by handover latency, signaling delay and improper buffer management. The present newlinestudy provides novel solutions for the existing handover protocol by reducing handover latency and signaling delay. In addition to that it also reduces packet losses by introducing a novel dynamic size threshold buffer management. newline
