Abstract: Multifunctional materials have attracted much attention in recent years due to their ability to offer a variety of properties which can be fine-tuned with the help of functional group chemistry. Conjugated polymeric system based on organic monomers yield a variety of electrical and photophysical properties which have potential opto-electronic application such as in display devices organic light emitting diodes. Whereas a lot of effort has been directed in design and development of highly conducting conjugated polymers, their photophysical properties have not been studied as much. Also, biological applications of these materials particularly in the area of cell imaging have not been expected at all.
