Abstract: Rainfall forecasts and its verification over India are always of a great interest because newlineof its socioeconomic impact. Accurate rainfall forecasts can minimize the impacts of newlinesevere or extreme rainfalls on the local and national economy by reducing the losses newlinein terms of saving human lives and protecting property. Such forecasts, with enough newlinelead time, allow people to take necessary actions and precautions such as protecting newlineproperty and evacuating people if needed, thereby reducing the risk of property newlinedamage and deaths that could result from the heavy rainfalls leading to flooding. newlineTherefore, accurate and early forecasts are critical and highly sought after by all. newlineAdditionally, verification of precipitation forecasts is equally important to monitor the newlineforecast performance of a modelling system which in turn provides a useful feedback newlinefor the improvement. newline
